  • Find your voice with Almond Singers, our after-school singing program for grades 1-6! Students meet weekly throughout the school year to learn songs, build confidence, and develop their musicality in a fun, supportive environment.

Almond Singers perform two concerts each year—one in winter and one in spring—and sometimes share their talents at community events around Los Altos. It's a wonderful way for students to explore music, perform on stage, and make new friends! Registration information is sent out by the second week of school.

Visit our dedicated Almond Singers page to learn more!

  • Be sure to purchase your tickets to our annual poker tournament! Try your luck at our poker tables and enjoy a lively night of friendly competition, great company, and exciting prizes!  Includes a professionally run poker tournament with dinner and cocktails.

  • Come by the Almond multi to browse a great selection of books curated by Linden Tree, our favorite local bookstore right here in Los Altos. A portion of every purchase supports Almond PTA and our neighborhood bookshop.

Pick up something for your own reader, or grab a gift for the classroom from your teacher's wishlist!

The fair runs for multiple days before and after school and during lunch, with the final day coinciding with Walk-a-thon — stop by after you've finished your laps!

  • Lights, camera, action! The Almond Musical gives 4th-6th grade students the chance to shine on stage in a full-scale theater production each November.

With a cast of about 40 students, participants dive into the world of musical theater—learning songs, choreography, and acting skills while building confidence and teamwork. After weeks of rehearsals, the cast brings the show to life with three exciting performances for families and the community.

Whether your child dreams of a lead role, loves being part of an ensemble, or just wants to try something new, the Almond Musical is an experience they'll never forget. Registration information typically is sent out the first week of school.

  • Lace up your running shoes for Eagle Flyers, our Friday lunchtime running program! Students hit the field during lunch to run laps, build endurance, and have fun with friends.

Each participant has a badge that gets scanned with every completed lap, tracking both individual and group mileage throughout the year. Watch your personal progress grow and see how far our Almond community runs together!

Eagle Flyers is a great way to stay active, set personal goals, and be part of a school-wide fitness challenge.

  • Get ready for an evening of hands-on discovery at Family Science Night! This exciting event transforms our school into a science wonderland with interactive stations exploring physics, chemistry, life sciences, engineering, and more.

What to Explore: Families can visit the Almond multi, library, and Flex rooms to find all the engaging stations throughout the evening. Past favorites have included making elephant toothpaste, building hovercraft and catapults, creating Oreo moon phases, exploring anatomy with real organs, experimenting with magnets and static electricity, and building robots with Beebots and Lego Engineering. We also feature live animals from vendors like NorCal Bats and For Goodness Snakes, plus fascinating demonstrations from groups like Stanford Optical Society.

Perfect for All Ages: Whether your child is fascinated by chemistry experiments, loves hands-on building challenges, or wants to get up close with real insects and reptiles, there's something for everyone. Older students from local middle and high schools help run many stations along with parent volunteers, making it a true community event. We’ve even been featured in the Los Altos Town Crier!

Join us for an unforgettable evening of science, learning, and family fun!

  • Join us for an elegant evening at our biennial Gala—Almond PTA's signature adults-only fundraiser. This special event brings our community together for an unforgettable night of fine food, drinks, and exciting bidding.

Held at stunning venues like the Los Altos History Museum, the Gala features a sophisticated atmosphere where parents can connect, celebrate, and support our school. The highlight of the evening is our live auction, where you can bid on exclusive experiences, unique items, and curated packages.

All proceeds from the Gala support PTA programs and initiatives that enrich the educational experience for every Almond student.

  • End the school year with a splash at Field Day! Held on the last minimum day of school, this high-energy celebration brings the whole school together for an afternoon of games, competition, and fun.

Students are divided by grade level and rotate through exciting stations including water games, dodgeball, field games, and tug of war. It's the perfect way to celebrate all the hard work of the school year and send our students—especially our graduating 6th graders—off with unforgettable memories.

  • Welcome back to school with ice cream! Join us for our annual Ice Cream Social on the Almond blacktop, held the first Friday evening after school starts.

This casual, come-as-you-are event is the perfect way to reconnect with friends, meet new families, and kick off the school year together. The PTA provides free ice cream for all students and families—just show up and enjoy!

It's a sweet way to celebrate the start of a great year at Almond. We hope to see you there!

  • This annual, fun-filled, all inclusive, inter-school track meet celebrates over 60 years of physical education in Los Altos School District. 4th, 5th, and 6th graders from all seven district elementary schools compete in both traditional and nontraditional track and field events.

This popular adults-only event is hosted by parent volunteers and typically held in a backyard setting. It's the perfect opportunity to relax, connect with other parents, and enjoy great conversation in a casual yet festive atmosphere.

Mark your calendar for this favorite tradition—it's a night you won't want to miss!

  • Ready, set, READ! Read-a-thon is a three-week celebration of reading that combines a love of books with fundraising for our school.

How It Works: Students read as much as they can over three weeks, and every minute counts! Whether it's chapter books, picture books, audiobooks, or even reading aloud to younger siblings—it all adds up. Parents log reading minutes at home, and teachers track classroom reading time too.

Prizes & Recognition: We celebrate our readers! Students can pick up stickers in the library to celebrate reading milestones. Individual students and classes with the most minutes read earn prizes and recognition. It's a fun way to motivate kids to dive into great stories while building strong reading habits.

Support Our School: As students log their progress, families can share updates and invite relatives and friends to support their reader with donations to the PTA. Every donation helps fund programs and resources that benefit all Almond students throughout the year. Students are also able to spend a portion of donations in the read-a-thon store!

Get ready to read, log your minutes, and help make this our best Read-a-thon yet!

  • Think you've got what it takes to be a spelling champion? 4th-6th Graders can sign up to compete in the Almond Spelling Bee, new for 2025-26 School Year! Students will face off in this classic academic competition, spelling words aloud in front of judges and an audience.

    How It Works:

    • Study word lists will be provided to help you prepare

    • As the competition narrows, unpublished words may be used to challenge top spellers

    • Before spelling, participants may ask for the word to be repeated, used in a sentence, or defined

    • Participants may write words down before spelling aloud, but only the spoken spelling will be judged (note: higher levels of competition may not allow writing)

    What's at Stake:

    • Up to 10 top finishers will represent Almond at the LASD Spelling Bee

    • The top 2 winners from District advance to the County Spelling Bee

  • A whole week dedicated to showering our hardworking teachers and staff with the love and gratitude they deserve! Each year, the Almond community comes together to celebrate the incredible educators who make our school so special.

While the exact details vary from year to year, festivities typically include an international potluck buffet with dishes donated by families, themed treats and goodies throughout the week, and festive decorations around the school and staff room. It's our chance to say a heartfelt "thank you" to the people who give so much to our kids every day.

  • Join us for our annual Walk-a-thon in early October! This beloved Almond tradition brings our community together while raising funds to support PTA programs throughout the year. Participation is free—all students and families are welcome!

What to Expect: Students complete laps on a course set up on the school blacktop, with volunteers tracking their progress. When the theme song plays, laps count double—so get ready to move! Families are encouraged to join in the fun and cheer on our walkers.

Beyond the Walk: The event features food for purchase, games for all ages, a live DJ, and a silent auction. Don't forget to order your Walk-a-thon t-shirt in advance!

This is more than just a fundraiser—it's a chance to connect with other Almond families and celebrate our school community.

  • Annual Walk or Wheel Day encourages you to get to school using anything except a car!

Featuring GreenTown Los Altos with a blender bike and the LAHS Marching band, this fun event promotes both sustainability and wellness!
